Seventy and One is an original 1960's two-story building and is located on a four-acre estate in Louisiana's sugar country. The bed and breakfast and steakhouse are both housed in the main building with swimming pool and fishing pond also on the grounds.
The 4-acre estate is on the original site of the Armelise Plantation (circa 1800s), which was owned by Seventy and One owner, Jimmie Dugas', family. The Armelise Plantation was famous for growing sugar cane. Sugar cane was a founding crop of the state of Louisiana and created the Sugar Baron's of the early 1800's.
Owner, Jimmie Dugas, has always been in the restaurant and guest service businesses. Notable ability in personal interaction, meeting and sharing stories with people and discussing her rich family history have always been passions of hers.

The Inn at Seventy and One is a four-acre estate located in Belle Rose, Louisiana and is at the junction of Highway 1 and Highway 70 thus the creation of our name.

Seventy and One is a one-of-a-kind bed and breakfast and steakhouse because of the unique architecture and décor of the building and grounds. The house was built in the 1960’s and is a true reflection of the style of that period.

Seventy and One is located in the heart of Louisiana’s sugar country and sugar has played a huge part in the history of this area and we are confident it will always be a mainstay in our future. We are proud to offer a truly unique bed and breakfast and dining experience that honors this tradition. The grounds and building layout are perfect for everything from a romantic weekend for two to a private and relaxed space for corporate gatherings.

The building was erected in 1962 and served as a private residence until 2004. Seventy and One honors the tradition of 1960’s architecture with its spacious two-story layout of over 6,000 square feet.

The downstairs floor houses the restaurant with two uniquely different dining areas, one of the guest rooms, the Cabana Suite and the Dakota Room Cigar Bar.

As typical of sixties architecture, the spacious dining room is in the center of the building and is accented with a full glass wall with sliding doors, which lead to the covered patio, and overlooks the swimming pool and covered outdoor lounging area. On the opposite side of the room is a wall-sized brick fireplace whose design is also very sixties in style.

Our second dining area, The Rice Room, is a feast of colors and textures honoring the great city of New Orleans. This brightly lit area is full of various arts and artworks focused on Louisiana. Fans of the famed author, Anne Rice, will also enjoy this room with its collection of Rice’s best sellers. This dining area has it’s own set of sliding glass doors which lead into a private garden area.

Opposite the Rice Room, across the lobby,
is the Dakota Room Cigar Bar, the perfect space to enjoy before/after dinner spirits and of course cigars.

Bordering the perimeter of the upstairs
are the three additional suites, Mill Suite, Suite Westfield and Le Suite, each with their own story and unique features.

Just outside the main house is the
covered patio with tables, chairs and outside bar, which overlook the screened swimming area. There is no better place to gather with friends and watch the afternoon sun disappear into the horizon of sugar cane fields.
